Alice in Wonderland
I finished up working on Alice in Wonderland (at Cafe FX in Santa Maria) at the end of January. It was a very fun project for me (though a bit stressful for the 3D artists and compositors-it was a lot to do in not much time). It was particularly fun for me because I got to do some concept art, architectural design and look development beyond the matte painting work I was originally hired for. I finally finished puting up a new page on my website with a few samples of the work.
You can find it here...

Lynda.com Creative Inspirations
For those who might be interested, Lynda.com was kind enough to do a little documentary about my work in their “Creative Inspirations” section.

They've done a number of these for a variety of creative types such as designers Margo Chase, Rick Morris—photographer Douglas Kirkland, and more. They are currently working on one about Troika Design in Hollywood (old friends from Pitttard Sullivan days.)
They are well done and it's interesting to hear about creativity directly from the artists.

My thanks to Lynda, Billy, Gaea, Scott and Michael from Lynda.com who did such a nice job on my documentary. I hope, if you get a chance to view it, that you find it as interesting as it was fun to make.

Oh, and if you don't know, lynda.com is a great way to get access to a gazillion tutorials on every creative software there is. I'm currently using their Cinema 4D course.

Regards,
Ron

New Crabb Digital Website
I finally finished the re-vamp of my website. It's a cleaner design with easier navigation and has new items in every category.

The matte paintings now include The Bucket List and Speed Racer and a couple TV commercial mattes.

The concept section has a couple additions from a Max Life TV commercial.

Motion graphics now includes some “main-on-end” film title work for The Waterhorse and Midnight Meat Train. There's also two TV title designs for Private Practice and The Big Bang Theory (even though they went with something different in the end, I still like them.)

The Illustration section has my “Keep a Sharp Eye” piece on it, a children's interactive DVD concept illustration and a Music CD cover done for Buck Page, one of the original singing cowboys from the thirties. Sadly, he passed away not long after the cd was competed.

The fine art section has ‘Keep a Sharp Eye” in it as well since I plan on printing that image as a fine art giclée print.

I recently worked on Clint Eastwood's “Changeling” so that will go up upon release.

Hope you enjoy the revamp.

Getting started on CGSociety
Hey,
I'm just getting started on putting together the CGSociety version of my portfolio. I'm in the middle of revamping my own site but have to wrestle with the Dreamweaver upgrade from MX to CS3. I liked the layers option in MX but not the fact that the site couldn't be auto-centered. Dreamweaver CS3 is all about CSS so I've got a learning curve ahead of me. The good news is that I'm impressed with the functionality of the CGSociety portfolio. Thanks CGSociety!
I'll be putting only my more recent work on this site since all the older stuff is on my own site but I'll also include some of my favorites.
Hope you enjoy the work and if there are any questions or comments, feel free to send them along. Freelancing at home is isolated work and I miss the input from my Hollywood days. I gotta get out more to industry conventions and such!
Thanks for visiting.
